BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, maintain the building and facilities of a child care center in a clean, sanitary and sage condition.

 

DISTINGUISING CHARACTERISTICS: The Custodian-Child Development Center class is distinguished from the lower class of Custodian because employees in this class are assigned as a one- person child development center and perform all custodial services required by the site.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to: Graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed.

Custodial experience preferred.

 

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Personality and character suitable to work in schools.

Employment eligibility that may include fingerprints, Tuberculosis and/or other employment clearance.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Basic cleaning methods, procedures, and techniques

Cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment

Safe working methods and procedures

 

ABILITY TO:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor and outdoor environment; driving a vehicle to conduct work; seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions; exposure to chemicals related to cleaning; working around machinery with moving parts.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate assigned tools and equipment; seeing to perform custodial work; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects; standing for extended periods of time; performing heavy physical labor.
