BASIC FUNCTION: Perform skilled journey-level cutting and forming, fabricating and assembling sheet metal into roofing, siding, drainage equipment, heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems, and architectural sheet metal.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to: graduation from high school and completion of a four and one/half to five-year apprenticeship program .

 

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Valid California Driver’s License suitable for driving District vehicles.

Personality and character suitable to work in schools.

Employment eligibility that may include fingerprints, Tuberculosis and/or other employment clearance.

ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor and outdoor environment; driving a vehicle to conduct work; seasonal heat and cold or adverse weather conditions; working around and with machinery having moving parts; exposure to fumes from paints and solvents; working at heights; exposure to cuts and other abrasions from working with metal.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate assigned tools and equipment; seeing to perform sheet metal work; reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects; standing for extended periods of time; climbing ladders and working from heights;  performing heavy physical labor.
